Business Process Optimization for an Independent Ethnic Grocery Retailer

Conducted a business process and profitability optimization project for an independent ethnic grocery retailer in Houston experiencing declining profit margins despite steady customer traffic and strong community demand.

The objective of the project was to identify operational inefficiencies affecting revenue performance and develop strategies to improve profitability while maintaining the store’s competitive pricing and product diversity.

The engagement began with a comprehensive review of the store’s operational structure, including inventory purchasing practices, supplier relationships, product pricing, shelf turnover, and labor allocation. Sales data and procurement records were analyzed to evaluate product-level margins and identify categories that contributed positively to revenue versus those generating minimal or negative returns.
